Inherited Retinal Disease Research:

The Australian Inherited Retinal Disease Register and DNA Bank welcomes collaborations with appropriate researchers.

Collaborations may take the form of provision of (de-identified) clinical history and family information, genetic analysis results, or DNA to professional bodies undertaking research into inherited retinal disease, or facilitation of recruitment of participants for related clinical trials.

Diseases currently in the register include:

  • Retinitis pigmentosa
  • Stargardt disease
  • Usher syndrome
  • Cone/cone-rod dystrophy
  • Macular pattern dystrophy
  • Leber congenital amaurosis
  • Bardet-Biedl syndrome
  • Choroideraemia
  • X-linked retinoschisis

    • Note: We are happy to collaborate with professionals and institutions carrying out research into other inherited retinal diseases. However, this resource is not applicable to Age Related Macular Degeneration.
